This special lot is sourced from a few small communities connected to one another in the famed Haraz mountains. Rayyan Mill found this gem in 2014, but late in the season. Seeing the potential in this coffee they remained in contact with the producers and the quality this year (2015) is excellent. Plans for the next few years are to teach pruning, harvesting and drying methods (raised beds) that will not only increase the cup quality but also the income for each farmer who participates. Production is about 12 tons per year and Rayyan Mill hopes to break this up into even smaller lots upon implementing drying beds.

Images shown are those of the areas surround Haraz.

Drought, war, and lack of transparency characterize Yemeni coffee; as a result, Yemeni coffees rarely leave the country in pristine condition. Rayyan Mill, in Sanaa, however, turns these processes on their head. They select only the best coffees from Yemeni farming communities they're developing relationships with. Each coffee arrives at the mill immediately after harvest, where it undergoes carefully processing, is stored in grain pro, and constantly checked for quality.

This is a single farmer lot from Asrar Haraz's farm. It features intense fragrances of strawberry undergirded in the cup by brown rice, baker's chocolate, red currant, and notes of burnt sugar. It is complex and undergirded by a complex array of spice notes. Make sure to let it rest a minimum of two weeks before trying! A week of rest for one of these Yemeni coffees is equivalent to a day for a normal coffee.
